Thousand names in praise of the Divine Mother. The names are given both in verse form for chanting and listed individually (Namavali) for archana. The text of the meditation, stotra, and Namavali is given in Sanskrit, with transliteration, and English translation. The translation of the Namavali is an extension of an earlier one by D.S. Sharma, who also wrote the extensive introduction.
Let each one of us pray day and night for the downtrodden millions, who are held fast by poverty, priestcraft, and tyranny. Pray day and night for them. I care more to preach religion to them than to the high and the rich. I am no metaphysician, no philosopher, nay, no saint. But I am poor and I love the poor.
-Swami Vivekananda
